Ah! The First Strawberries!
Sunday, April 10th
The Online Market is Open!
Arkansas Natural Produce presents the first strawberries of the season grown by Doug and Brenda Kratz at 5k Farms in Hot Spring County. Their strawberries are picked ripe and ready to eat (no big, white California-style strawberries here!). PLEASE REFRIGERATE AND EAT PROMPTLY AND/OR FREEZE! We inspect these berries for freshness when they arrive at market and cannot give refunds for moldy and/or deteriorated berries after purchase.
These berries are grown sustainably with NO insecticides on their mixed fruit farm. Thank you for supporting this family-farm!
According to the “What’s On My Food” website (http://www.whatsonmyfood.org/food.jsp?food=ST) 54 pesticide residues are found by the USDA Pesticide Data Program on commercial strawberries, latest data listed is from 2008.

Honeysuckle Lane Cheeses are Online this week. If you haven’t tried them you are in for a special treat. We also stock their cheese at the Indoor Market.
“We at Daley Dairy offer our Honeysuckle Lane Cheese, a line of cheese that is made on our farm from fresh Grade A Raw Milk, which comes from our Jersey influenced cows. We do not use any Hormones or Antibiotics in producing our milk. We use natural fertilizer on our pastures and no pesticides or herbicides. The cows are on pasture 365 days a year, with a minimal amount of grain. Our goal is to produce quality, wholesome milk so that we may produce a cheese with a creamy texture and a rich flavor.”

Spring is Just Around the Corner!
Some comments from our LOCAL farmers!
“Potato field is worked up. More room for spring crops is worked up. Starting on the squash area this week. Lots of transplants worked on today. Next week we will be setting out in the gardens!
Hog pastures are planted with rye, wheat and oats. Should be tasty in a month or so!!"
“Beets, radishes, carrots, lettuce, garlic and onions all coming up in the garden.
Just put the final touches on the chicken tractor. Tomorrow I will work on new accommodations for the rabbits.
Moved the broiler chicks into the chicken tractor this morning. They love it!
The new greenhouse has arrived at 8:00 am, the price was right (FREE) and that included delivery. Can’t beat that deal. Will have it fixed up and full by the end of the weekend."
Our local farmers have been greatly encouraged by YOU, the customer, appreciating and supporting their efforts to bring you more fresh, local good food!
Youngblood Grassfed Farm is back online this week after a trip to NY to attend a Grassfed Beef Symposium. with their great link sausages, brats, franks and other meats.
Arkansas Natural Produce is back online this week. We really appreciate their year round production of great veggies! If you want to present a beautiful, locally grown salad for that special occasion start with their Gourmet Spring Mix, add some Watercress or other ingredients and sprinkle the top with their Edible Flowers. It will surely be a hit! Also check out their bumper crop special on Spinach and Gourmet Spring Mix. I noticed they have a couple of Fennel Bulbs available this week, too.

JV Farms will be back at the Outdoor Market this Friday. Come say hello and ask them how their new/old tractor is working out. We miss their presence!
ABC Nursery will be at the Outdoor Market this Friday. Debe brought some beautiful rosemary, flat parsley, hostas just coming up, and other items last week. Plants are starting to pop in the Nursery too!
